CHNTL / AKRMN is a two-part piece inspired by Chantal Akerman’s cinema and 90s IDM/ambient textures.
“A domestic fragment split into two forms. speech and its disappearance. repetition as memory.”
Objective
The visual piece was created by editing VHS footage, playing with a homemade, imperfect aesthetic inspired by the experimental and domestic qualities found in some of Akerman’s work.
The aim was to explore repetition, intimacy and memory through fragmented images and analogue textures.
I also adapted one of the tracks specifically to the rhythm of the visuals, allowing the sound and image to evolve together rather than treating the music as a separate element.
